FAQ
Beta Access
No, we are not currently shipping outside the USA but we aim to start shipping globally as soon as possible.
The beta will run a few months and allow us to make any bug fixes and test our production line for a wider global release.
We don't anticipate adding any major features between now and the end of the beta. Our beta program is designed for use to get the sensor in the hands of bowlers that want to test out the latest technology and help us fix any major issues that may exist before a full launch.
Hardware
Yes the Ruby sensor is designed to work with any bowling ball as long as you use a standard 31/32 or 1 1/32 finger grips
No, the sensor will not fit in a bowling ball without standard 31/32 or 1 1/32 drilled hole.
No, the sensor will not fit in a bowling ball without standard 31/32 or 1 1/32 drilled hole.
Yes the sensor is removable. However, due to the nature of using glue to keep the sensor in place in the ball, it's designed to be used with only one ball for an extended period of time.
Yes our mobile app supports connecting multiple sensors at once. Contact us if you're interested in a discount on ordering multiple sensors.
The size of the sensor exterior is designed to work with a standard 31/32 or 1 1/32 inch finger grip. There is enough space inside the hole to allow for you to use a screw driver or grip removal tool to get it dislodged from the bottom. Do not use a drill press under any circumstances to remove the sensor.
No, under no circumstances should you do this as it will damage the sensor and possibly void your warranty.
Yes, the sensor is designed to withstand outside temperatures in both hot and cold environment. However you should avoid leaving it in direct sunlight or in a place where rain or water could get inside your bowling ball finger hole. Extreme heat and extreme cold could damage the sensor.
The sensor battery is designed to last a full day on a full charge. The included portable charger will allow the sensor to be ready to use and can charge a dead sensor to 70% within 20-30 minutes.
Yes you can leave the charger plugged in overnight but it is recommended you do not leave the charger plugged in during extreme weather if you leave it outside. Do noy leave the charger plugged in if you leave your sensor in a place where rain or water could get inside your bowling ball.
App + Data
Key release, approach, and ball-motion stats. The exact list will grow as we ship updates during beta.
No. The Ruby sensor is designed to work no matter if you pick the ball up right out of the ball return or let it roll to a complete stop on the rack.
The sensor is meant to work within the area of a normal bowling alley seating area. If you walk away from your lane the app will reconnect to your sensor automatically as long as it comes in range again. Check the connection indicator in the app if you think you might be out of range.
No, you can leave your phone in sleep mode or use other apps and the data will transfer in the background. Low-power mode, range or older mobile devices may affect this capability. Check with us if you're worried your phone might not support background transfer
Yes. Your account and history stay with you.
We aim for a vew high accuracy for all stats collected by the sensor. For example, ball speed and rev rate should be very close to what the ball is actually doing on the lane. However, while the product is still in beta you may see some variation and errors on some shots. Our goal is to use the beta testing period to refine our algorithm as much as possible before a full release.
